"Just a couple of additional notes- my hunting/fishing partner is a Master Butcher (in the Retail Meat industry for the last 28 years) and he has told me and other people on numerous occasions that his #1 Russell Belt Knife is the finest cutting tool for all around use that he has ever had the pleasure of owning. 3 or 4 years ago, my Russell was accidentally thrown into our camp fire along with the remains of a couple of fish that I had just filleted using the knife. The fire was stoked up with 5 or 6 pieces of hard Maple (to incinerate the fish remains), and allowed to burn for at least 2 hours before I discovered that the knife was missing. Of course, when I retrieved the remains of the blade, fashioning a new wooden handle from scraps found in my tool room and about a half an hour of sharpening, this knife was almost as good as new- it hadn't even lost the temper in the blade and still holds an edge for as long as it used to before the accident."
